Over the years, the Bastrop Rotary Club has supported many social service organizations in Bastrop County, including the Children’s Advocacy Center, Boys & Girls Club, and the Kerr Center.
Local Rotary fundraising is also providing on-going support for the following:
In the Streets-Hands Up High Ministry to the homeless
- Transitional Housing for a homeless Veteran
- Bus stop to all CARTS access
- New electric line for new winter barracks
- Hydroponics garden for fresh vegetables &
- Various other short-term needs
Sleep in Heavenly Peace (bunkbeds for youth without beds)
- Purchasing materials, building & delivering bunkbeds
Our Club is a recognized Bastrop Independent School District Community Partner, and has adopted Emile Elementary School. Through this partnership, the Club supports Emile teachers in many ways, including supplies for the Teachers’ Lounge, plus resources for Thanksgiving and Christmas special events, including adopting needy students from the Emile Christmas Angel Tree. On the calendar are plans for a Valentine’s teacher recognition luncheon, plus volunteering at Emile’s annual Book Fair.
Bastrop Rotary Club is currently partnering with the City of Bastrop & Bastrop Chamber of Commerce to participate in civic events such as the annual Lighted Christmas parade and Halloween Boo Bash. Other community involvement with hands-on or financial resources support includes:
- High school Scholarships to Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Smithville and McDade High Schools
- Career Technical Education (CTE) Scholarships
- Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry
- Bastrop Honor Choir
- Bastrop Pregnancy Center
- Firefighters’ meals during the Hudson Fire
- Silver Pines Nursing Home
- Children’s Protective Services
- Bastrop Public Library
- Bastrop Education Foundation
- Smithville HS Industrial Arts Program
- City bike racks and benches
- Seasonal greeting cards to Camp Swift and other military troops stationed at the Texas-Mexico border for the Holidays
- Building, installation & maintenance of bluebird houses in Bastrop & Smithville parks.
Bastrop Rotary also supports communities in need throughout the globe by contributing resources to many Rotary International programs, including: a project in Liberia to supply clean water; End Polio Now efforts across the world; and financial support for Los Angeles wildfire victims.
