Joe Beal, Honor Flight Austin board member, aided by our own Viet Nam vet Robert Lindsey, was our presenter last week. Since the WW II Monument in Washington DC was completed in 2004, the goal of Honor flight is to ensure that all WWII veterans have an opportunity to visit that site while they are still able.
There are 125 Honor Flight hubs across the nation, with Austin being one of the top three. Austin flies an average of 300 veterans per year to Washington. There are never any trip costs for the veterans, and the entire operation is managed by volunteers.
Eradicating polio is Rotary's top humanitarian priority. Since Rotary and our partners formed the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988, the incidence of wild polio cases has decreased by 99.9%. But polio anywhere in the world puts children everywhere at risk. Learn about why it’s so important that we maintain our efforts to end polio and how you can take action.
This just a reminder that the match ends tomorrow, October 31, at 5:00 P.M.
During the match's 90 days, 191 Rotarians representing 36 of our 55 clubs have pledged a total of $165,359! Importantly, $162,304 (98.2%) has already been remitted.
If you're one of the 191 who has already contributed, thank you so very much for your generous contribution. It's your contributions to the Annual Fund-SHARE that ensures District 5870 has the wherewithal to provide community DAP Grants, career and technology scholarships, district service projects and international humanitarian grants. None of this would be possible without your support.
